A person is dead following a shooting early Wednesday morning near Dallas’ Kessler Stevens and north Oak Cliff neighborhoods.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting about 1:20 a.m. in the 300 block of East 8th Street, Dallas police said in a statement.

Investigators determined an unidentified person had been shot by an unknown suspect who fled before officers were on scene, the statement said.

The person shot was transported to the hospital where they later died.
