Deputies responded to the 100 block of Carol Lane at 3:36 p.m. after receiving two calls from witnesses, Ellis County sheriff’s office said in a release.
The first witness called and said they heard yelling and a firearm being discharged from a nearby residence, deputies said. A second witness said there was an adult male actively threatening self-harm.
Deputies said they encountered the man as they arrived at the location and noticed he had a firearm. Deputies gave the man multiple commands to drop the weapon, but they said he refused and pointed the firearm at them. A deputy then shot the man.
