Dallas Bike Ride is back with its 20-mile event. Here’s what to know about road closures

The city of Dallas is celebrating National Bike Month by promoting bike-riding events throughout May, hoping to encourage healthy habits and activity amongst North Texans of all ages.

On May 7, students participated in Bike and Roll to School Day across the region. Now, it’s time for working Dallasites to take their turn with Bike to Work Week May 11-17. 

The city of Dallas has partnered with local transit authority DART to promote Bike to Work Day on May 15. DART will host events at various stations across the city for participants and those who want to learn  more information on potential benefits. 

Here are events and road closures to know.

May 15, Bike to Work Day

The following DART stations will host events featuring giveaways, snacks, health benefit information areas and more.

  • Akard Station from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • CityLine/Bush Station from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Buckner Station from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

May 16, Dallas Bike Ride

Dallas Bike Ride is back again for its 20-mile, car-free social ride through downtown Dallas, Uptown and the Bishop Arts District on May 16. The ride will start and finish at Dallas City Hall. 

Road closures across downtown Dallas will start around 8 a.m. and end at 12:05 p.m.

  • Ervay Street from Young Street to Commerce Street from 7:45 a.m. to 8:46 a.m.
  • Commerce Street from Ervay Street to Riverfront Boulevard from 7:45 a.m. to 8:55 a.m.
  • Riverfront Boulevard from Commerce Street to Continental Avenue from 7:48 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Market Street from Jefferson Boulevard to Young Street from 8:49 a.m. to 12:01 p.m.
  • Young Street from Market Street to Marilla Street from 8:50 a.m. to 12:04 p.m.
  • Marilla Street from Young Street to City Hall from 8:51 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.

Road closures in Victory Park and the Design District will start around 8 a.m. and end at 9:35 a.m.

  • Houston Street from Continental Avenue to Nowitzki Way from 7:51 a.m. to 9:06 a.m.
  • Nowitzki Way from Houston Street to Field Street from 7:52 a.m. to 9:07 a.m.
  • Field Street from Nowitzki Way to Cedar Springs Road from 7:52 a.m. to 9:10 a.m.
  • Cedar Springs Road from Field Street to Turtle Creek Boulevard from 7:53 a.m. to 9:18 a.m.
  • Turtle Creek Boulevard from Cedar Springs Road to Maple Avenue from 7:56 a.m. to 9:21 a.m.
  • Maple Avenue from Turtle Creek Boulevard to Oak Lawn Avenue from 7:57 a.m. to 9:24 a.m.
  • Oak Lawn Avenue from Maple Avenue to Irving Boulevard from 7:58 a.m. to 9:35 p.m.

 Road closures in West Dallas will begin before 8 a.m. and finish at 10:40 a.m.

  • Riverfront Boulevard from Commerce Street to Continental Avenue from 7:48 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
  • Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge from Canada Drive to Continental Avenue from 8:17 a.m. to 10:28 a.m.
  • Continental Avenue from Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge to Riverfront Boulevard from 8:19 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • Riverfront Boulevard from Continental Avenue to Commerce Street from 8:20 a.m. to 10:35 a.m.
  • Commerce Street from Riverfront Boulevard to Fort Worth Avenue from 8:21 a.m. to 10:47 a.m.

Kessler Park will have road closures starting around 8 a.m. and ending at 11 a.m.
